Charlotte Morgan
was hired to the coaching staff of the University of Maryland softball program in the summer of 2011. After an illustrious career at the University of Alabama, Charlotte was the first pick in the 2010 National Pro Fastpitch Senior Draft and she currently plays for the USSSA Pride.
Charlotte is an alumnus of the University of Alabama where she was named SEC Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010. In 2010, Morgan received the Lowe’s Senior CLASS award, which is presented annually to honor the most outstanding senior player in NCAA Division 1 softball. At Alabama, Morgan played first base and pitcher.
Charlotte’s distinguished career at the University of Alabama includes the following accomplishments and honors:
-Morgan finished her career as the all time RBI leader in SEC history with 264 RBI. She led the NCAA in her sophomore year with 79 RBI which set both an Alabama and SEC conference record.
- 2010: SEC Player of the Year; second team NFCA All-American; first team ESPN Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American. Batted .361 with 17 HR and 74 RBI. Posted a 7-2 record with a 3.42 ERA and struck out 58 batters in 86 innings pitched.
-2009: SEC Player of the Year; NFCA first team All-American; named third team ESPN the Magazine academic All-American; Named to Women’s College World Series All-Tournament team; USA Softball Player of the Year Top 10 finalist. Batted .406 with 11 HR and 59 RBI. Posted an 18-6 record with a 1.80 ERA and 124 strikeouts in144 innings with fourteen complete games and seven shutouts.
-2008: top 10 finalist for ASA.USA Softball Player of the Year; first team Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American; first team All-SEC; batted .417 with 19 HR and 79 RBI. Posted 18-2 record on the mound with a 1.27 ERA in 104 innings. She pitched seven complete games and four shutouts.
-2007: named second team All-SEC and Freshman All-SEC. Batted .358 with 11 HR and 52 RBI. As a pitcher, Morgan posted an 8-2 record with a 2.92 ERA.
